By inhibiting fatty acid synthesis, it likely prevents the production of phospholipids necessary for new cell membrane formation, thereby disrupting cell growth. Broadleaf species are naturally resistant to cyclohexanedione and aryloxyphenoxy propionate herbicides due to an insensitive ACCase enzyme. Consequently, the target crop remains unaffected while the weeds are eliminated. For onions, it is recommended to use the herbicide 30 days after transplantation. The robust structure of onion plants makes them resistant to the herbicide, while sensitive narrow-leaf weeds are effectively eliminated.
